whats your budget? I stayed here on a few occassion - http://www.firstbungalow.com/

they have beach bungalows which are simple but are right on the beach...and the beach on this part of chaweng is quite nice.

I think I paid about HKD600 per night.

I have a friend who used to be Business Development Director of the Thai Tourism Resort and she runs a resort in Samui. I am loathe to share this because it is really cheap and has a nice pool. I second the Anatara, just come back and it was wonderful. Also try Coral Beach.
