Expiring passport

My passport will expire March 18th 2008.
Due to circumstances I am unable to renew it until October, after the one week holiday.
This obviously is frustrating, as I won't be able to travel outside of China during this time due to there been less than 6 months remaining.
Does anyone know of any places that don't adhere to the 6 month rule? I really want to get to HK!
I have a UK passport.

Most countries adhere to the 6-month rule...but look on the bright side - October is but a month away.
