messenger on iphone

anyone knows how to get messenger on the iphone? yahoo or MSN? I saw this mobile chat software from itunes store but reviews said this is not working well. any help will be appreciated

AFAIK there is no way to get these on the iPhone. There is a theory that since they charge for SMS the operators don't want chat clients on the phone.

I'm not so sure about that. I have Yahoo Messenger for my Blackberry, and I got the application from the 3 web site for it.

I'm sure there must be options out there for the iPhone

Indeed. The BB also supports Live (MSN) Messenger and ICQ. However that is Blackberry and this is iPhone. I know the iPhone was criticized at release for the lack of instant messaging.

Apple does have this less than endearing habit of locking things down to shape the usage profile.

I used to have blackberry and there is yahoo messenger on it when you buy, you just need to get a network that supports data usage, but when I bought the iphone I didnt checked it, I just thought that its because it have safari I can download the yahoo messenger by safari.

go to ebuddy.com simple web based software that allows you to use all of the chat clients on your iphone or any other phone that is internet enabled.

A bit clunky but its simple, it works and above all its free to use... you just pay for data useage as normal
