physiotherapy causing bruises

Hi,
I am currently getting physiotherapy for my back. It includes manual massage, ultrasound and electric pulses. The other day, the therapist caused painful bruising down my back. My husband and friends couldn't believe the marks. I have another appointment today and called the therapist b/c I can't have her touch my back as my skin is so tender. She wasn't surprised by the bruises and said that she'll lay off the manual massage today and just use the machines. As this is the only physiotherapist I've ever visited, I'm not sure what is common practice. Does anyone know if a physiotherapist should cause large bruises after manual massage?

No, you need to find someone more gentle - unless you have a problem with bruising easily.

you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince....keep looking for a physio that suits your needs. the bruising????? Got to question that!!!!
