Modern House Garden
Posted by karistse (619 days ago)
I am moving to Beijing in Feb. Anybody has any ideas about Modern House Garden in Shunyi? It seems it's cheaper than most of the other villas in the Shunyi area. It's within my budget but I am also worried is there any reason why they are cheaper?
Is Eton kindergarten good? This school is asking for a non-refundable levy. I would like to be more careful before I make the decision.
Any ideas/recommendations will be highly appreciated.

I have never heard of Modern House Garden and I live in Shunyi. I dont know who told you this but could they mean it is a modern house with a garden and they have forgotton to give you a house name. If you let me know the compound name I will give you some info. Most schools either large or small in this area are either full or have waiting lists so they all want a non-refundable levy. I have had that in other countries as well, you have to pay even though you maynot be guaranteed a place.

Dear ukexpat,
The property agent told me about Modern House. Anyways. Thanks for your note.

Sorry but there is no housing complex called Modern House out in Shunyi. I have asked around and nobody has heard of a place called Modern House so just beware.

ok. Got it. Thanks. I will be careful. Let me try to ask the property agent if there's a Chinese name of the complex and the exact address. I will see how they will reply.

Dear ukexpat,
I would like to ask you if you know anything about Eton Bilingual kindergarten at Pinnacle Plaza? I visited them last week and thought it was a nice kindergarten. We are considering moving to Capital Paradise, so Eton becomes nearby. Any ideas?

Copied this from another site, hope it helps
My daughter has attended Eton International Montessori for the past year and a half. We have been happy with their Montessori program and would recommend this school to other expats. They learn language, math, and gpractical lifeh skills as well as refining their senses and exploring their creativity through art and music. Because of the many different cultures they are exposed to within the classroom, the diverse culture they acquire is obtained mostly through social time. They have circle time and story time as well as playground time everyday. In the Montessori world they refer to the tools that the children use as "work" and the child is encouraged to choose their own "work" and go at their own pace of development with gentle guidance from the teacher. There are about 17 kids this year in my daughter's classroom with one English speaking teacher (from South Africa) and two Chinese assistants. The assistants both have good English. This is the International Kindergarten/Reception class for ages 3-6. They also offer a Nursery program for children 18 mos.-3 years old. They have both an international and bi-lingual pre-K program. The bi-lingual is taught in both Chinese and English and the International classroom is taught in English only.
The fees are $200 for application fee; $2000 for capital levy; plus $7,500 for half day students or $12,150 for full day students. Discounts may be available for certain companies and embassies that have a relationship with Eton.
It is a corresponding member of The American Montessori Society and tries to follow the principles of Montessori.

Thank you. Where did you find the info above?

There is a yahoo group you can join when you get here, you have to be invited. There are many expats who ask questions on it and usually someone helps or advises or has an opinion. It can be anything from type of water to shops etc.
