Fengtai District

I am supposed to be coming to teach at the Capital University for Economics and Business in the Fengtai (or is it Fungtai?) district and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this area is like in relation to shops, bars, resturants etc? Also how far is it to travel to the main areas for nightlife?

Fengtai District is mainly residential, and occupied mostly by native Beijingers.

There are much in the way of shops or bars. There is a huge Carrefour in Fengtai and some bars & shops just over the road from it.

The entertainment district in Beijing is most definitely Chaoyang District which is north of Fengtai.
