I have never seen them in BJ but I use Amazon to get loads of books delivered to BJ with no problems and they are quite quick, might be easier for you.

Out of interest, what sort of books do you purchase on Amazon?? It's just because that every book I've bought via Amazon was not allowed to be delivered to me in Beijing; I had to give my parents address in OZ and then my mum had to send it to me.. big pain as you can imagine.

Hi I have ordered loads, chick flick books, baby books, books for hubby like from Author George Mcdonald frazier (flashman series) and my family sends them as gifts too. The only one I ever had a delay/problem with was on the history Of china so I cancelled it. the link I use is the uk one, I have copied it below

what type were you ordering? If its history then maybe its the same as me?

Thanks for that..It doesn't matter what type of book I order (books on China, writing books) they're always rejected and I have to send them home, like I mentioned..

I am averaging about 50/50 with ordering books on Amazon. First shipment was held at customs, second shipment of the same books came through, just took 2 months to get it all straighten out.

Are you getting them delivered to your home or work address, I get them delivered to my home address.

The only other thing I can think of is that you may by ordering alot at any one time, I think if the value of an individual package is over a certain amount say 50GPB (You will need to check the value to be sure but it is about that figure) then they may stop it at customs as some times tax has to be paid n stuff,that is one of the reasons packages sent always have to list what is in them and the value.
I suggest making a couple of smaller orders under this value. Might help?

Order was only two books so it was a small one, Amazon was really great about replacing the order and sending it out expedited. I had it delivered to my home address. I will check out the Xinhua bookstore in Wangfujing this weekend. According to an article in China Daily they are supposed to have the UK and US release rights to the new Harry Potter book. I'll post a note to let you know what I think of the local store.

Saw a HP poster at the Bookworm - it should be for sale sometime soon, sorry didn't pay much attention to the date, not a Harry fan.
