Toilet paper in toilets problem

Hi, I'm new to Beijing although I've travelled in China a lot. I know that in a lot of public buildings you can't flush toilet paper down the toilet. But having just had my third overflowing incident due to severely blocked toilet (again) in my private apartment (ok...'apartment' is probably a euphemism) I'm wondering if anyone has any solutions for the poor plumbing. And yes, I have tried plunging. My apartment is quite old, and though redecorated on the inside, the infrastructure is still old (all water flows through pipes in the kitchen). I know it seems like flushing toilet paper is a minor problem, but being female and not being able to use the toilet is a major problem in terms of living convenience. Plus, I really can't afford a more expensive apartment!

hey..... i visited a friend's apartment...she had a dustbin beside her toilet bowl, which whom she dumps the toilet paper in.

I have found that if you drink about a cup of cooking oil or olive oil every few days, it increases the weight and viscosity of your feces to the point that it adheres to the toilet paper and slides it down the rusty pipes.
