According to the statistics from the authority, there are almost 230,000 permanent expatriate residents living in Beijing. Americans, of course, make one of the major parts of it. There are number of high-end residential expat communities scattered in Chaoyang District and intensively in Shunyi City (near airport) such as Beijing Rivera, River Garden, Capital Paradise , Dynasty and so on. Most expatriate communities has small grocery stores/mini markets serve imported food as well as America food; For the famous ones, you can try Jenny Lou’s(little chain of grocery shops offers a great assortment of western food, such as Italian pasta, cereals, canned food, cheese, fresh vegetables and fruit, imported wines as well as liquor), April Gourmet(provide high-end imported foods and fabulous different sorts of cheeses) , Carrefour, etc.
