Luggage storage

Hi,
When I arrive in Beijing and want to store some of my more valuable possessions before I settle down and find a place to stay, are there safe lockers anywhere? At airports or train stations, and suitable for storing things for a week or so?

There is a left luggage at the airport but not a clever idea to leave valuables there. What is the volume of these items that you need to store?
