My favorite restaurant is Rumi Persian Grill. They serve authentic Iranian food; located on Gongti Beilu in Chaoyang District, phone number 8454 3838. It's my favorite place in Beijing because the food is fantastic, the ambiance is minimal and chic, the service friendly and very reasonably priced.

There is a nice Hunan cuisine restaurant in a hutong near Houhai. Don't expect fancy place, but very friendly decor and staff, and very good food. Owner is a Hunan/French couple. They really make the best effort to give a pleasant experience for guests. You can check the website: http://xixiangzi.multiply.com

My best Recommendation for Indian Restaurant is the newly opened GANGES- IN HAIDIAN -NEAR TSINGHUA-AS THE EDITOR OF THATS BEIJIGN SAYS- IT IS A REAL DEAL RESTAURANT IN BEIJING. It is near Zhongwanchun and near Beijing University/Tsinghua. The food there is perfectly the same Indian food as you get in in India. The restaurant serves Great Lamb /Chicken Tikka -they are real mouth watering -especially for Foreigners and Chinese and surely for Indians too.(my friends just love them) The Lamb Roganjosh and Kadai Paneer is so good -one wants to go there again and again.THE PRICES ARE SO Reasonable, than other Indian Restaurants .The telephone number is 62627944 and try the great Dal Makhani with any of the great Indian breads- It is a treat! And for the Indians-Apne Desh ki Yaad aa Jayegi for sure.Cosy environment and good service it is a real place to visit many times.

A new place I really like is Vineyard Cafe near the Lama Temple. They serve authentic european food in a peaceful courtyard setting including Pizzas, Moussaka, Pasta, Seafood, Quiche, Baked Potatoes, Sandwhiches. Great Weekend brunch as well. Interesting modern design for the interior with a great back room with sofas for chilling out in the afternoon. Their Mediterranean Pizza is delicious and also they do amazing homemade lemonade and great Mai Tai c*cktails. There website is here which includes a map on how to find them: http://www.vineyardcafe.cn

I recommend DIE KOCHMUETZEN in Jianwai SOHO, a German restaurant. They serve delicious, authentic German cuisine and German beer for reasonable prices. I heard that they will create a special menu for St. Martin celebration day on the 11th of November. Their homepage is: www.kochmuetzen.com

MARE, a Spanish restaurant, is without a doubt our favorite. The Tapas are spectacular, their lamb and their seabass entres are delcious, their lava cake and/or their homemade lemon sorbet are the greatest-and I never liked sorbet before. We take all our guests there and they all vote it their favorite place at the end of their stay.
