summer mandarin camp - beijing

Posted by christie (509 days ago)
I'm a Canadian expat English teacher living in Hong Kong. Our son is studying Mandarin at his international school here, twice a week, for 30 minutes. Not enough to really get anywhere sadly. I'm VERY early (type A haha), but we're thinking of a summer in Beijing in 2008 to end up, hopefully, at a few of the Olympic events. I'm looking for information on schools in Beijing for a 6 year old boy where he could register for just 3 weeks or so (mid July to early August). I'm not looking for intense grammar or a formal and regimented school - a more playful, relaxed and interactive approach is preferred. If necessary, I'll hire a one-to-one tutor but would be far happier with a group of children who can enjoy learning together. Anyone know of such a thing? Summer intensive language camps (usually English) are the norm here in HK but don't know of anything like that in Beijing. Often the HK offerings teach sport as the main focus but do so in the target language. There must be something in Beijing - any suggestions from parents?

I will bring my daughters to Beijing from end of Jun to end of Jul. We are Beijing people and live in HK. My daughters speak both English and Chinese. I know some primary schools provide some summer course, like pingpong, Science and Chinese etc. As far as I know Tsinghua primary school has summer program.
